Principal
Mr. Miqbel is a proud product of the Union City School District and holds a Masters Degree from Saint Peter’s University in Administration and Supervision. Mr. Miqbel began teaching Biology at Jose Marti Freshman Academy for five years before becoming a Dean of Students. He later served as Assistant Principal at his old grammar school George Washington Elementary for four years. Mr. Miqbel now proudly serves as Principal of Thomas A. Edison Elementary School. He is a strong advocate for urban education and making parents apart of the school culture.
Mr. Miqbel strongly believes each student can achieve and become very successful if the bar is set high for them each day. Mr. Miqbel takes pride in working in the Union City community daily and often volunteers in various events and activities that help our community succeed.
He is happily married to a fellow educator named Sabrin and has three beautiful children: Omar, Ismail and Eliana.
Mr. Miqbel thanks his dad for being his biggest role model in life and always pushing him to be the best version of himself.
